Follow on Google News | Berkeley FILM Foundation Announces 2018 Grant CycleBy: Berkeley Film Foundation/ Wareham Development Adult filmmakers who reside or work in the cities of Richmond, El Cerrito, Albany, Berkeley, Emeryville or Oakland are eligible to enter. Students ages 18+ who live in Richmond, El Cerrito, Albany, Berkeley, Emeryville or Oakland and are enrolled in a film arts program in the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco and Marin may apply. To date, the BFF has awarded over $1.3 million to 120 filmmakers and 36 student filmmakers. The BFF focuses on supporting social, historical and innovative documentary and dramatic works. Many grant winners have gone on to screen at U.S. and international film festivals, been recognized with prestigious awards, received television broadcasts, and are making a difference around the world. Past recipients of BFF grants include films such as The Barber of Birmingham (2009/2011); Inequality for All (2012); Nuns on the Bus (2013); Ghost Town to Havana (2010/2014) and Still I Rise (2016). The application process will close on May 11, 2018. The mission of the BFF is to nurture, sustain and preserve the thriving local film community and provide grants for social, historical and innovative documentary, animation and dramatic works.
