Home Builders Association of Durham, Orange & Chatham Counties Awards Local Scholarships
The HBADOC Foundation has awarded $269,000 to 253 area students over the last 21 years. The eight-member HBA Foundation Board of Directors works as a separate entity of the larger association, with three of these members having served since the inception of the Foundation. "I'm proud to have helped start this program over 20 years ago. We knew we wanted to make a difference in the lives of our local students when we started," said Mitch Barron of Dan Ryan Builders, Secretary of the HBA Foundation. HBA CEO and Foundation Executive Director Holly Fraccaro shares, "I could not be more proud to serve the HBA of Durham, Orange and Chatham Counties and its Foundation. The charitable spirit of this association is one of the key motivators for me to keep pushing us to become a better HBA – the cool HBA!"
Key note speaker at the Spring Membership meeting was Casey Steinbacher, Interim CEO of Made in Durham and Founder of Casey's Company. She delivered a powerful message to the students, encouraging them to pursue their dreams by building their own visions and goals, and taking their successes beyond college and back to their local community.
Founded in 1962, the HBDOC is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders and the North Carolina Home Builders Association. It has more than 600 members who are builders, developers, subcontractors, suppliers, and professionals in businesses related to residential construction.
