By: NorCal Press But for the Silicon Valley Renters Rights Coalition the work is not done. Major changes in San Jose's rent control law will be voted on next Tuesday afternoon at City Council. And the activists have two major turnout events planned. The group is asking the public to please try to attend one or both to help ensure that the City Council hears their voice and honors the hard-working tenants who are the backbone of the Silicon Valley economy. On Thursday April 19, there will be short rally held at 5:30 PM in the City Hall Plaza, 250 E. Santa Clara Street in Downtown San Jose. Next, on Tuesday afternoon, April 24 residents are invited to City Council Chambers to speak directly to City Council members. It is imperative for people to express their needs and ask council members to enact the protections that Silicon Valley residents deserve. Public comments begin at 4:00 PM. The public is encouraged to arrive early and testify into the early evening. The city of San Jose is in a housing Crisis and tenants in communities are being displaced by outrageous rent increases, unfair evictions, and discrimination every day. Stand with the Silicon Valley Renters Rights Coalition and demand that the City Council vote for stronger tenant protections.
