WASHINGTON - April 6, 2018 - PRLog -- The Little Miss North America (LMNA) contest is set up into two levels.  The first level is the state competition. Parents can upload their child's photo onto the LMNA contest site. The public then can vote on their favorite competitor. Tristyne, who leaves in the state of Maryland, received the most votes and won the title of Little Miss Maryland North America.

At the second level, the state winners competed in an offline competition based on their photos and charity fundraising. A panel of expert judges selected Tristyne as the overall winner. She will be crowned officially at the upcoming Mrs. DC America Pageant on April 14, 2018. She will also receive prizes for her win which includes a $500 shopping spree from Afsheen Ather of Nova Derm Institute.

Tristyne's win is somewhat bittersweet, as she is unable to accept her award with both parents present. Her father Javares J. Washington, an Army Staff Sergeant, was killed in a convoy accident in Kuwait in 2008.

"Tristyne's brother's and I are extremely proud of her newest accomplishment and I know her father, Javares is proud and smiling down on her, states her mother, LL Nixon-Washington, who is also an Army Veteran.

Tristyne is an Honor-Roll student in Maryland and she recently was accepted into the Brooklyn Park Performing Arts school for the upcoming school year of 2018-2019.  Tristyne is also a member of the Howard County Youth NAACP Committee. She enjoys competitive cheerleading, power tumbling, singing and hanging with her friends.

"As Little Miss North America, Tristyne can build on her personal and public speaking, meet other young girls with similar aspirations and continue to be a voice within her generation. Our team is excited to see her journey," states the AOAGWLLC owner, Raquel Riley Thomas.

A portion of the contest proceeds benefit the Victoria Siegel Foundation.
