Follow on Google News | Contiki is funding the cost of commutes so young Brits can do the travel they really want to doYouth travel expert Contiki will fund the monthly commute of young Brits to help them escape the daily grind and travel abroad
By: Contiki Holidays 2018 has seen average rail fares increase by 3.4% across England, Scotland and Wales, almost double that of last year, and the biggest hike in five years[1]. Commuters in the UK fork out as much as 13% of their monthly salary on rail fares[2], and this is even higher for younger Brits on an entry level or graduate salary. Following the recent price hikes, rail commuters in Britain will spend on average £240 on travel costs each month[3], so in a bid to help young commuters do more of the travelling they actually want to do, Contiki will deduct the cost of young travellers' monthly commutes (up to the value of £240) on over 200 of its group trips*, which explore over 50 countries across the world. Donna Jeavons, Contiki Sales & Marketing Director said: "With year-on-year increases in the everyday costs of transport, housing and food, the price of living is a constant challenge, particularly for young Britons. At Contiki we recognise that, in addition to being a whole lot of fun, travelling abroad has many positive effects on young people, which is why we want to help young adventurers fund their overseas travel experiences! "Research we conducted recently proved that travel has an overwhelmingly positive effect on young people – it makes them 43% more satisfied with their employment opportunities compared with non-travellers, 42% more likely to seek out new friendships, and 19% happier. We believe it's important to support young Brits in their self-development, so we've committed to covering the cost of their monthly commute so they can spend their money on travel they actually want to do." The first 100 people to make a booking will have the cost of their monthly commute deducted from a Contiki trip of their choice*. Travellers should simply call or email Contiki Reservations on freephone 0808 281 1120 / travel@contiki.com to share proof of their monthly travel costs and make a booking.
