TORONTO - April 4, 2018 - PRLog -- On April 12th Canadian author Roslyn Franken will be speaking at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida to the class brutally attacked by the shooter on February 14, 2018. Franken, the daughter of Holocaust and atomic bomb survivors, will deliver a presentation about her parents' remarkable life story, as told in her book, Meant to Be: A True Story of Might, Miracles and Triumph of the Human Spirit.

Roslyn's parents are powerful role models for these teens and for all of us on how people can experience unimaginable sorrow and adversity and still find joy and thrive in the aftermath.

Roslyn's mother, Sonja, survived the concentration camps of Nazi Europe. Her father survived the Nagasaki atomic bomb as a Prisoner of War in Japan. When he passed at age 94 on June 15, 2016, he was recognized as the last Canadian POW Nagasaki atomic bomb survivor. The two survived on opposite sides of the world in the most extraordinary of circumstances and found everlasting love in Montreal, against all odds, where their daughter, Roslyn Franken, was born and raised. Roslyn moved to Ottawa in 1991.

Students and teachers alike can benefit from the many meaningful life messages about resiliency, compassion, inner-strength, appreciation, tolerance and hope shared in Roslyn's presentation and book. She will share the lessons she learned from her parents' experiences to help the Parkland students live better lives and make our world a better place.

Franken states, "If I can have a positive impact on even one of these students in their healing process, then it will be worth it. My hope is that when they hear my parents' remarkable story, they will be moved and inspired with a renewed sense of hope and positivity to help them through this difficult time and thrive beyond it."

Roslyn Franken delivers her presentation to students and youths across North America as part of her Student Speaking Tour. Her Parkland presentation will mark the launch of her student speaking tour in the United States.

Roslyn's parents' story was the subject of a Gemini award-nominated CBC television documentary and a feature-length movie adaptation of Roslyn's book, Meant to Be, is currently in development for production through Five Star Studios Inc.
