WATERBURY, Conn. - April 4, 2018 - PRLog -- On Sunday, April 22, 2018, the Otaku Club from Naugatuck Valley Community College along with Karma Conventions CT will host the 8th edition of Brass City Comic Con at the Fine Arts Atrium in the NVCC campus at 750 Chase Parkway in Waterbury from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event will offer the students of NVCC an opportunity to connect with the community of Waterbury as well as an opportunity to give back to the community in a fun atmosphere.

Brass City Comic Con family fun event will include vendors, creator tables, food trucks, cosplay boutique, and a gaming tournament. Admission is $5 and children under 12 are free, there will also be cosplayers and children dressing up as their favorite super heroes. All funds raised will be given to Acts 4 Ministry, Inc. in Waterbury.

The following organizations are assisting the students of Naugatuck Valley Community College in promoting and sponsoring this event.

Brass City Comic Con, http://www.brasscitycomiccon.nation2.com, is a 9-year-old comic book convention located at the Naugatuck Valley Community College in Waterbury, CT. Created by Professor William H. Foster III, its objective was to celebrate and recognize the creative efforts found in the American Comic Book, and their creators. "Waterbury is a perfect location for the show, as it is the birthplace of the American Comic Book," stated Foster.

Past attendees have included Trevor Von Eeden (co-designer of DC Comics' popular Black Lightning character), Paris Cullins, Frank McLaughlin, Joe Staton and many others comprising talent from Marvel, DC, Archie, Charlton, Image as well as numerous small press publishers such as local companies like United Comics and Free Lunch Studios. This is the eighth edition.

Karma Conventions CT, https://www.facebook.com/karmaconCT/, is the arm of Lucky Star Event Entertainment which focuses on consulting and production of pop culture shows, conventions, and events in New England.

Acts 4 Ministry, http://acts4.net/, is a non-denominational non-profit organization that achieves their goal daily on many levels by collecting and distributing, free-of-charge to recipients, clothing, housewares, and furniture, states Acts 4 Ministry Executive Director Sarah Elizabeth Carabetta. "Each year we distribute clothing to nearly 6,000 people, and over 10,000 pieces of furniture and housewares, to people of varying income levels throughout the Greater Waterbury area."

Families and individuals are frequently referred to Acts 4 Ministry by other charitable and social organizations to assist people who have suddenly lost their homes to a fire, flood or other unexpected devastation or upsetting life event. The organization's vision is to build relationships with people with varying levels of needs while providing them with the basics of daily living.
