Moss Awarded Construction Contract for Miami Open's New Home at Hard Rock Stadium

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - April 2, 2018 - PRLog -- Moss Construction was recently awarded a contract to build Miami Open's new home at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. The Grand Slam tournament will move into the innovative 978,000 sq. ft. facility in time for the 2019 tournament.

"The Miami Open is not only an internationally respected tournament, but it has been a mainstay of the South Florida community for more than 20 years," said Brett Atkinson, executive vice president of Moss. "We are excited to take on this amazing project for Miami Open Tennis and humbled that Moss was selected to help make it a reality."

Developed by the Miami Dolphins and Miami Open Tennis, the project includes 31,000 sq. ft. of improvements to Hard Rock Stadium, including the demolition and renovation of the stadium's office suites, locker rooms, officials coaching, Dolphins suites, family lounge, off field support, and the stadium infield.

Outside of the stadium, a 5,000 seat Grandstand will include a player's lounge, player gym, restrooms, and mechanical rooms. Moss will construct 29 courts (18 practice courts, 10 tournament courts, and the Grandstand court), as well as landscaping and miscellaneous improvements to the grounds. In addition, a 3,600 sq. ft. video display board will also be installed to the south exterior of the building.

Prior to the tournament, Hard Rock Stadium's football field will be converted into a tennis center court. The 6,000-seat stadium stand will include a lower and upper bowl seating area, use of the existing club level seating area (Dolphin's VIP seating area used for football) and a VIP suite package. The "wraparound" stadium seating concourse will be constructed around the stadium court to bring the audience close to the on-court action.

Designed by Rossetti, the project is scheduled for completion Spring 2019.
