Follow on Google News | Deadline Approaching for Junior League Young Woman Voluntarism ScholarshipNominate a female high school student with outstanding volunteer service
To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must reside in Maryland and attend a Maryland public, charter, private, community or parochial high school in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Howard County, Anne Arundel County, Carroll County, or Harford County. She must also have plans to matriculate to an accredited, two- or four-year, post-secondary institution in Fall 2018 and cannot be a current member or immediate relative of a current member of the Junior League of Baltimore. The 2017 recipient, Lucie Amrhein, graduated from Mercy High School and is attending American University. At age 10, she founded Hugs from Lucie, which provides support to children who have undergone trauma in the form of teddy bears and other comfort items. In addition to volunteering with several local organizations, Lucie has also gone on mission trips to Belize, Cozumel, and Honduras. The deadline to apply is April 1, 2018 and the application can be found at www.jlbalt.org. The scholarship recipient will be notified by April 15 and will be honored at The Junior League of Baltimore's Annual Dinner in May.
