SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - March 14, 2018 - PRLog -- This Saturday marks a major milestone for Mike Harmon and his racing team. As the starting flag waves at Auto Club Speedway in San Bernadino County, California Harmon will take his 250th start in a NASCAR Xfinity race.

For the last 18 years, Harmon has been a consistent staple in the NASCAR Xfinity franchise, with his rookie year occuring in 1996 followed by a five year hiatus that led to his current streak which began in 2001. Since his 2001 return, the 60-year-old driver has appeared in every series.

When asked about this monumental milestone in his career, Harmon appeared humbled, saying "I did not even realize it until it was brought to my attention. I appreciate life first, I appreciate the opportunity, the ability to do so. I've learned a lot from racers and mechanics that have passed away, I appreciate all of them and what they did for our sport and for me to make this possible."

Harmon's gratefulness for the longevity of his career and the opportunity to have a place in the NASCAR community to begin with does not end at the racetrack. The driver went on to express gratitude to his family, friends and colleagues for having the patience and understanding which helped Harmon make it to this 250 race point, "I appreciate my family for understanding and helping me make all this possible. I definitely could not have done this without all the volunteers, sponsors and partners through the years. I wish I could name them all but they all know what they did for me and I appreciate you all."

Sponsors play a large role in any racing team's progress in the sport of racing. Harmon is aware of the importance of a positive relationship with sponsors adding,"I would like to personally thank my sponsors from the past and our current sponsors for the 2018 season: Shadow Warriors Project, Horizon Transport, KoolBox, Hitman RaceWear, RGB Imaging, Heroes Media Group, HANRO Engraving, AFM Graphics, Professional Printers Inc., and The Danny Dietz Memorial Fund."

Faith and family has played a key role in Harmon's progress throughout his NASCAR career, something Harmon is quick to acknowledge,"I really appreciate the Lord because I know He's spared me more that once and more than I want to think about. I really appreciate my mom who is my biggest fan even though she says my sister Denise and I are responsible for her silver hair. I appreciate my dad for making me man enough to do this and getting me headed in the right direction."

Not only does Harmon have heavy ties to the NASCAR community, he holds a special place in his heart for the men and women who bravely serve the United States of America and pays tribute to them via his weekly Honor Hood which is dedicated to an individual or group in the military community every race. Due to this commitment to those who commit themselves to serving this nation, Harmon felt a specific thank you was necessary saying,"And a special thank you to our men and women serving this great nation! Thank you for allowing my team to honor you all!"

This Saturday's race, marking 250 races for NASCAR veteran Mike Harmon will take place at 2:00 pm Mountain Standard Time in San Bernadino County, California at Auto Club Speedway. The race will be featured on Fox Sports 1 and the Motor Racing Network as well as on the official NASCAR Xfinity website.
