Thiel College sororities, fraternities discuss leadership and diversity at Greek leader conference

Thiel College's Greek delegation joined 1,300+ attendees for Northeast Greek Leadership Association annual conference in Pittsburgh. Attendees discussed strengthening organizational leadership and addressed current issues facing student groups.

GREENVILLE, Pa. - March 14, 2018 - PRLog -- Seven members of Thiel College's sororities and fraternities attended the Northeast Greek Leadership Association annual conference in Pittsburgh recently.

The conference was held Feb. 22-25 at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown Hotel. More than 1,300 attendees from other colleges and universities were at the event. Thiel College  (https://www.thiel.edu/) Director of Student Activities and Involvement Than Oo accompanied the students to the conference. It is the fifth consecutive year Thiel College has participated in the conference.

The students listened to national keynote speakers on topics of organizational leadership, diversity, and current issues. They also attended several education workshops each day with sessions on fraternity/sorority recruitment strategies, membership retention, and professional networking tips.

Representing Thiel College and its organizations were:

• Kiara Kind '20, Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She is a psychology and sociology double major from Solon;
• Breanna Mesich '19, Chi Omega sorority. She is a biology major from Jeannette, Pa.;
• John Smiley '20, Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He is a public relations, integrated marketing and advertising major from Lincoln University, Pa.;
• Gino Russo '19, Kappa Sigma fraternity. He is an information systems major from Neshannock, Pa.;
• Matthew O'Connor '20, Phi Theta Phi fraternity. He is an information systems major from Pittsburgh;
• Andrew Tonkin '21, Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He is a business administration major from Shaker Heights, Ohio; and
• Amelia Mutinelli '20, Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She is a communication sciences and disorders major from Greenville, Pa.

Thiel's representatives are all leaders in the College's Panhellenic and interfraternal community.
