Previously, in December a mandate was made to roll-out the of electronic way bill all across nation from Feb 1 instead of April 1. But because of technical glitches in the system, the procedure was delayed. The early roll-out of electronic way bill was introduced to facilitate easy payment of taxes for goods transportation within and outside the states. Also the provision is supposed to exclude tax-evasion possibilities by the businesses. The GST Council decided on an e-wallet scheme to refund exporters by October 1, 2018, the date till which exporters can carry out to claim tax exemptions, as per which merchant exporters can pay a tax rate of 0.1 percent on goods procured for export and get a refund for the same.
