LOS ANGELES - March 9, 2018 - PRLog -- The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is excited to announce Hurricane FC as a new member starting with the 2018 Spring Season.

Based in Delray Beach (Fla.), Hurricane FC begins UPSL play in the Florida Conference, and will host its games at the Seacrest Soccer Complex (2505 Seacrest Blvd, Delray Beach, FL 33444) in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards.

United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "We are pleased to welcome Hurricane FC to the UPSL's Florida Conference. Hurricane FC is a team willing to fight for its place in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, and ownership is committed to the best competitive playing environment for their players while pursuing a UPSL National Championship. We wish Hurricane FC the best as it prepares to kick off this Spring."

Hurricane FC is owned by Luiz Franca. A native of Brazil, Franca, 47, played for seven seasons as a professional in Brazil's 1st Division, and moved to the United States in 1996 to begin a career as a youth coach.

Hurricane FC Owner Luiz Franca said, "Hurricane FC is going to join the UPSL and only the UPSL because we want to be on a national platform. It's a better presentation and we have high-level players that want the best competition and to play in the Spring and in the Fall, and we want to start right now."

Started in 2015 as a member of the American Premier Soccer League (APSL), Hurricane FC has twice participated in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds, advancing to a second round game in 2016.

"We have a lot to offer the players of this area and we want to grow the Hurricane FC name," Franca said. "We're working on it and joining a national league like the UPSL is the right step forward for us."

Hurricane FC has a scouting relationship with AC Delray, a local youth club where Franca serves as a coach.

The team soon will announce its upcoming game schedule.
