Actors Launch Campaign to Create More Diverse LGBTQ+ Representation on Screen

Gay activist, actor and writer Aaron Johnson Levy turns to crowdfunding to produce a new web TV series "Out: A Saga"—a suspense-thriller project that showcases LGBTQ actors playing LGBTQ characters that are rarely seen on screen.
CLEVELAND - March 9, 2018 - PRLog -- Activist, actor and writer Aaron Johnson Levy is turning to the Internet to raise funding for a groundbreaking new LGBTQ web series, Out: A Saga, a suspense-thriller crime drama. An Indiegogo campaign was launched on March 4th, 2018 to raise the $2000 necessary to film the pilot episode. Like other crowdfunding sites, allows artists a set number of days to raise a designated amount of funding. Out: A Saga has a three-week fundraising window to reach the $2000 target. If the allotted budget isn't raised before March 23rd, 2018, Indiegogo will take an additional 4% of the pledges (totaling 9%) before releasing the accumulated funds to the artist.

The series follows an aspiring drag performer who becomes a target in a crime spree that tears the community apart. Friends become enemies and enemies become friends because in this universe nothing is as it appears to be. The characters are authentic yet they defy stereotypes. There is a transgender female whose gender identity never comes up. Instead, she is the "voice of reason". There is a bi-curious female who confidently provides the "comic relief". And the protagonist breaks ground as a femme queer of color. There are heroes and villains, betrayal and redemption, all within one queer community. The message is that sexual orientation and identity is not what truly differentiates us as human beings.

Peter Sherman is a recent graduate of Cleveland State University's theater program. He was cast as one of the lead characters in Out: A Saga. When asked what excites him about the project he replied, "It's an action thriller utilizing LGBTQ talents. We often see ourselves portrayed in a very niche light. We hope to tell the stories of LGBTQ people beyond the stereotypes that we often see. Gay men don't always have to be flamboyant fashionistas and gay women don't have to be burly and intimidating. But sometimes we are those things, and that's okay too."

To direct and edit the pilot episode of "Out: A Saga" Aaron connected with Perdell Richardson whom he met on the set of a web series filmed in Los Angeles. Perdell is an innovative and award-winning creator, director, producer and editor.  As a graduate from the prestigious Columbia College Chicago, Perdell gained the knowledge to succeed in the film industry.  After graduating from Columbia, Perdell took on the role as The Director of Media for an online magazine company.  This led him to direct & produce his films "Fatal Reaction" and "The Scam" which can now be found on  After the success of his films Perdell created the award-winning web series "Top Flight Security".

The pilot episode will be shot in Northeast Ohio during the last week in April, 2018. In June, 2018 the pilot will be released to potential investors, distributors and fans in order to find the resources to film the remaining 6 episodes of Season One. The complete series will ideally be released by the end of 2018. To learn more about the project and/or creator, visit the website
