By: Blue Gum Farm TV
Cilla has combined, her experience as a performing artist with her love of the land to create a unique blend of music, song and storytelling, designed to reach children who otherwise don't get to experience life on a farm. With two seasons filmed, Cilla said the awards nod recognises her efforts in championing the bush and for good quality education children's programming.
"Blue Gum Farm TV is a real-life farm adventure allowing children to discover where our fresh food is produced. From milking the cow, collecting the eggs from the hen house or harvesting vegetables from the garden, this is an everyday account of farm life, showing the process of preparing fresh food straight from its source. Each episode also features easy children's recipes, so you can join in at home," she said.
"With beautiful songs, adorable farm animals and a little bit of humour thrown in, this authentic account of Australia's agriculture and rural way of life is irresistible to young children as well as being genuinely educational."
From their creation in 1999, the Australian Small Business Champion Awards has become the most prestigious and comprehensive program that recognises small businesses throughout the nation.
Steve Loe, awards founder, said the awards seek to acknowledge the hard work that business owners contribute to the local community in generating employment for millions of Australians, as well as their contribution to the Australian economy.
"The Australian Small Business Champion Awards is the pinnacle of business success. They recognise the values associated with successful small businesses. These values include service, commitment, leadership, endurance, courage, innovation, performance, persuasion and generosity,"
Cilla said making it through to the finalist stage of the awards is exciting. "I'm chuffed to be recognised in the business arena as a finalist for this award. Being rurally based always adds extra challenges, especially when my program is digital media based, so being acknowledged for my contribution to children's educational entertainment is wonderful," she said.
Filmed on location at Cilla's family property in the North Burnett region in Queensland, Blue Gum Farm TV is a show for children aged six months to six years that follows the fascinating adventures of life in the Australian Outback.
The awards ceremony takes place at The Star, Sydney on April 21.
