WASHINGTON - March 6, 2018 - PRLog -- Dr. Clayton Lawrence spoke on the topic of the importance of youth mentoring at a meeting of the Brothers of Leadership and Distinction (BOLD) on Monday, March 5, at Ports Town Elementary School in Bladensburg, Maryland.

The Lawrence Executive Alliance of Professionals (LEAP) LLC founder and CEO has spent many years committed to the health and wellbeing of the Washington, D.C., community, both through the efforts of his business and its nonprofit organization, LEAP Foundation DC. Since 2007, LEAP LLC has been encouraging a new philosophy to bring forth excellence in providing healthcare for active duty, veteran and civilian patients.

It is within that effort that Dr. Lawrence said his commitment to the area's youth was founded. The physician believes that now is the time to begin raising up the next generation of leaders.

"Our commitment to mentoring and instilling both confidence and encouragement in these young men through LEAP LLC's nonprofit organization, LEAP Foundation DC, is apparent in everything we do," he said. "I know, as a physician, that a healthy lifestyle isn't possible without caring, respectable and top-rated staff that is accessible and affordable. And my experience with the underserved families in the DC area has proven that we, as community leaders, are in a position to change the course for some of these young men and direct them to a positive future."

BOLD, a mentoring group that educates male students in fifth and sixth grades, offers a positive outlook on life through adult mentoring, lectures, workshops, physical activity and practical application. The program was developed to provide individually selected males with an academic and social support network, encouraging them to become well-rounded in their educational surroundings, as well as their communities.

"Our missions could not be more aligned," said Dr. Lawrence. "The Foundation was created to bridge the gap between hope and achievement and our business is clearly committed to activities within the community. As the CEO, I feel a personal conviction to demonstrating this example to our staff and young leaders as they prepare their careers and ensuring the promise of future success. By offering encouragement and stressing the importance of physical activity through leadership and example, I believe we are in a position to change the future of America and raise up these talented young men. I'd like to thank Mr. Jamel Kimbro, assistant principal, for partnering with us on this very worthwhile endeavor to ensure the success of these young men."

Kimbro said the efforts of BOLD not only provide a complete learning experience for the participating young men from community mentors within the school, but coordinators have started to reach out to prominent community members to share their personal journeys to their current positions in life, including the challenges they may have faced, tips and lessons learned along the way and the pathways to and through college.

"These learning experiences are designed to provide an equally great experience for these young impressionable males, as well as for the speakers, knowing they have helped these young men in some tangible way," he said.
