Baltimore's Security Square Mall to Host the 19th Annual 'Uplifting Minds II' April 21, 2018

BALTIMORE - March 4, 2018 - PRLog -- Security Square Mall in Baltimore confirms hosting the 19^th annual "Uplifting Minds II" (ULMII) entertainment conference on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 1- 4 p.m. The entertainment conference, also presented by The Baltimore Times newspaper, starts with a panel of industry professionals that will give advice and answer questions, and ends with a national talent competition showcase that will provide 10 acts with 4 minutes to showcase their talents in either of these categories – singing, songwriting, dance or acting. A winner in each category will receive the "ULMII Best Artist Award" and over $13,000 in prizes. The showcase will be hosted by Baltimore's own local celebrity Doresa Harvey, former radio host at Stellar nominated Heaven 600, and DJ Rick of the GWUAP Squad.

Security Square Mall and the "ULMII" event has a long history that stretches back to 2001. The events' history with The Baltimore Times reaches back even further - to its birth in 1999. The Baltimore entertainment conference through the years as collected many impressive success stories as a result of offering this free service to the community. Foremost is the attendance of Baltimore icons Dru Hill when Jazz and SisQo came in support. They used an original song, "I Should Be," of "ULMII" competitors called the Featherstone Brothers on their third album. The song went platinum and the talent's credits now include Chris Brown. Another Baltimore competitor was scouted by Broadway, Naturi Naughton. That Broadway performance lead to her joining the popular R&B group 3LW and that popularity lead to a starring role on the series "Power." Grammy winning artist Miguel was a competitor of the Los Angeles "ULMII" event held at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Mall where he was spotted by panelist Jimmy Maynes who at the time was Vice President of Jive Records. Jimmy later signed Miguel to a recording contract. Another Los Angeles competition Ro Shon Fegan performed at the "ULMII" event held at the Los Angeles Convention Center. His father said what he learned from the event's founder Eunice Moseley during the panel helped him take his son to the next level. That level was a co-starring was a role on two Disney sitcoms, which led to him performing on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars." The "ULMII" event has shown that its not the size of the audience that matters it's the opportunity to be seen by the right people.

"I was told by a major label executive that the 'Uplifting Minds II' event is industry known and scouts are sent there all the time," said Eunice Moseley, founder and coordinator of "ULMII." Eunice is also a syndicated entertainment columnist who has interviewed most of the panelists that come donate their time and services at the event. "These success stories find their way to me. There have been too many young talents through the years for me to remember. But word gets to me of their success because of their participation in the event by their parents or other competitors who form friendships with them and even me while covering red carpeted events I have met some who recognize me and tell me their world-wind-of-success story they credit to performing or attending the 'Uplifting Minds 2' event."

Former Heaven 600 radio personality Doresa Harvey will host the talent showcase with DJ Rick of GWUAP Squad on the turn-table. Aside from the "ULMII Award" winners receive a list of prizes donated by industry supporters that include free studio recording time, free music track, free business development consult, free public relations strategy, free professional photograph and so much more.
