Austin Bed and Breakfast is Helping 'Keep School Cool' with Donation to Austin Jazz Workshop

In a bid of support for local arts, The Fairview Bed and Breakfast in Austin donates an overnight stay to silent auction
AUSTIN, Texas - March 4, 2018 - PRLog -- The Fairview is donating an overnight stay at its historic landmark bed and breakfast as a silent auction item for the Austin Jazz Workshop's (AJW) yearly fundraiser next month. AJW is a non-profit that offers yearly Jazz performances at elementary schools as a way to encourage students to join band, orchestra, and choir programs.

"Both of our daughters saw their performances for multiple years at the neighborhood elementary school they attended," said Jimi Ballard, who is co-innkeeper at The Fairview, along with his wife, Vivian. "The founder of the project and I went to high school together. It's an initiative that for me has come full circle."

This year's AJW Silent Auction will be held on Saturday April 14th from noon to 4 pm at Joe's Crab Shack on Riverside Drive.  For more information on the event or to donate an item, visit:

Located in the heart of downtown Austin, just four blocks from the trendy South Congress (SoCo) district, The Fairview bed and breakfast is a historic landmark property affectionately known as The Gullett House. Built in 1910 by an early Texas cattleman for his daughters, the home was eventually purchased by Tom Gullett, the first superintendent of the local school district. In the early 1990's, the home first transitioned into a bed and breakfast, and in 2000 Jimi and Vivian Ballard purchased the property as their home. After extensive renovations, the Ballards reconverted the estate to a bed and breakfast in 2014. Today, The Fairview is a six room, family/pet friendly B&B with a modern interior and thoughtfully preserved historic elements. The Fairview is located at 1304 Newning Ave, Austin, TX 78704.
