Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra conferred with ASSOCHAM Lifetime Achievement Award 2018
Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra, Chancellor, Shobhit University, has been conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award from The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Indian Education Sector.
Bowing before the people and accepting the award, Kunwar Shekhar said: "To be honoured for one's lifetime of work is a prestigious honour. I would like to thank ASSOCHAM for bestowing me with this award which rightfully belongs to the thousands of proud students, alumni and employees of the Shobhit University who have contributed to its growth and success in India. Every award makes us more responsible."
Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra is Co-Founder and Chancellor of Shobhit University India and a prominent social entrepreneur based in New Delhi, who carries leadership roles in many organizations. He is Executive Trustee of NICE Society Trust, a philanthropic, not-for-profit organization. To eradicate poverty and to meaningfully contribute to social upliftment, economic growth, employment generation, youth empowerment and overall development of youth on sustainable basis, NICE Society was formed by Dr. Shobhit Kumar and Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra in 1989. In a span of 29 years, NICE Society has developed two Universities, a number of higher education institutions, Skill-development centers, Ayurveda Medical College, Naturopathy and Yoga Research Centre and Hospitals in different parts of north India.
A committed philanthropist who redefines good governance in education sector in India, he is very active with a number of social organizations also. He is Advisor, Shri JP Mathur Charitable Trust, New Delhi; Chairman, Livelihood Development Research Foundation; Mentor, International Skill Development Centre; Advisor, Citizen's Commission for Dialogue, Justice and Reconciliation, India; Advisor, Harijan Sevak Sangh; National Council Member, All India Prohibition Council; National Council Member, Centre for Education Growth and Research; Chairman, U.P. Body Building & Fitness Association, and Member of Higher Education Advisory Committee of ASSOCHAM.
He is a persistent advocate of the initiatives for education for the poor, secular values, crisis management through diplomatic and peaceful ways, and globalized systems of learning and peaceful co-existence. Acknowledging his contribution to society in the areas of education and other concerns he has been widely honored and awarded. He has traveled widely in India and to the countries like USA, UK, Germany, Australia, Russia, China, South Korea, Vietnam, Mongolia, UAE, and Mauritius to participate in various professional and educational activities. He is an avid reader, keen learner, social speaker, occasional poet and a dreamer.
