Reports on Russian trade in goods with South American countries in 2017

The share of South American countries in Russia's total imports has declined, despite the Russia's willingness to buy more South American food products.
 
MOSCOW, Russian Federation - Feb. 22, 2018 - PRLog -- Russian Foreign Trade has released the reports on Russia's foreign trade in goods with the countries of South America in 2017.

The reports have been prepared by Russian Foreign Trade stuff based on the data from the Federal Customs Service of Russia.

In particular, the reports have been issued on Russia's trade with the following countries: Brazil, Ecuador, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, Paraguay,Peru, and Uruguay (9 reports in total).

A brief review of Russia's trade with South American countries in 2017

The share of South American countries in Russia's total trade (exports and imports) declined from 1.95% in 2016 to 1.79% in 2017.

The share of South American countries in Russia's total exports declined from 1.07% in 2016 to 0.96% in 2017.

The share of South American countries in Russia's total imports declined from 3.31% in 2016 to 3.08% in 2017.

The major trading partners of Russia in South America in 2017:

- The top five Russia's trade partners in South America in 2017 were Brazil (0.8956% of Russia's total foreign trade), Ecuador (0.2601%), Chile (0.1547%), Argentina (0.1525%), and Paraguay (0.1105%).

- The top five Russia's export markets in South America in 2017 were Brazil (0.5692% of Russia's total exports), Colombia (0.1195%), Peru (0.0736%), Ecuador (0.0613%), and Argentina (0.0592%).

- The top five Russia's import suppliers from South America in 2017 were Brazil (1.4092% of Russia's total imports), Ecuador (0.5727%), Chile (0.3631%), Argentina (0.2994%), and Paraguay (0.2755%).

The most notable changes in Russia's trade with the countries of South America in 2017 over 2016:

- The share of Venezuela in Russia's total exports declined 6.2-fold from 0.1171% in 2016 to 0.0189% in 2017.
