MANHATTAN, N.Y. - Feb. 21, 2018 - PRLog -- International Songwriting team Lisa Marie Simmons and Marco Cremaschini based out of Italy together with more than 400 innovative self-released and indie label projects culled from thousands of submissions worldwide, were named as Fan Nominees in The 16th annual Independent Music Awards. Pianist, composer Italian Marco Cremaschini along with writing partner poet singer/songwriter American Lisa Marie Simmons are nominated alongside an eclectic list of established artists and rising stars which include: Taylor Grey, Esprit d'Air, Harriet, Fiona Joy, Jane Siberry and The Bankesters.  Fan-nominated artists in the Song and Video categories include: Ganda Boys, Karim Baggili and Amiss O.mega [featuring Snoop Dogg].

Voting on The IMA site for NoteSpeak's  "Every Generation's War" runs from  February 20th - March 20th at https://fans.IndependentMusicAwards.com

Asked to describe NoteSpeak, 2018 Conference on World Affairs panelist/performer Lisa Marie Simmons replied, "NoteSpeak is a poetic/musical album, partially inspired by artists like The Last Poets, ‎Gil Scott Heron, ‎Vijay Iver & Mike Ladd. We approach these spoken word pieces with the poetry and the music intricately intertwined. With this album, we are trying to draw attention to issues of which many are unaware- and putting faces to other phenomena of which we are all too aware- such as today's ‎mass migrations."

The American debut of NoteSpeak at theZee Jaipur Literature Festival in Boulder Co. in September 2017 was very well received with Sanjoy K. Roy Managing Director of Teamwork Arts. Co-founder, producer of the Jaipur Literature Festival commenting, "NoteSpeak performed at the closing of the literary festival JLF@Boulder and blew the lid off the house. They had the audience on their feet throughout the incredible 90-minute set! A pure treat!"

The winning IMA projects will be selected by judging panels of top recording artists including: Tom Waits, Slayer, Bakithi Kumalo, Michael W. Smith, Sepultura, Amy Lee  among many others.


The year's best self-released and indie label projects will be announced March 31st
from Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City.
