BASINGSTOKE, U.K. - Feb. 20, 2018 - PRLog -- To celebrate the winter Olympics Bamboo Travel has created a new 16-day itinerary entitled Adventure Korea which includes an extended stay in the mountainous Pyeongchang region.

Comments Robin Ball, Director of Bamboo Travel: "We have had a number of enquiries since the games began asking if any of our private, chauffeured tours to South Korea included Pyeongchang.

"They didn't, so Luke, one of our in-house experts, who used to live in Korea and knows the country inside out, devised a new trip which takes in the winter Olympic city, as well as many of the other highlights of this fascinating country."

The suggested itinerary takes in some of the country's most exciting landscapes and has plenty of opportunities for outdoor activity.

The itinerary is merely a guide, and many of the desired activities can be tailor-made depending on personal requirements and adjusted to suit those who wish to explore at a more sedate, or action-packed pace.

As well as plenty of adventure there is still a wide variety of excursions included, to ensure a thorough discovery of Korea's vast array of cultural and historical treasures.

The holiday commences in the capital, Seoul, which was itself a host city to the summer Olympics 30 years ago in 1988.

The itinerary passes along the rugged east coast, with a chance to hike in the Seoraksan National Park, before reaching Pyeongchang.

Heading south, two nights are spent on the volcanic Jeju island – with its renowned waymarked walking paths – before ending the trip with two nights on the lesser-known island of Geoje-do, a short distance from Korea's second city Busan.

Covered in pine forest and ringed by sandy coves and high cliffs, Geoje-do has a rich naval history - the site of Admiral Yi Sun-Shin's most famous battles - and a steady industry of shipbuilding continues to this day.

The island is also home to Yi Sun Shin Park which has a number of statues of the 'Immortal Admiral' linked by cliff-top walkways, and Dongpirang Village, a hive of traditional hanok housing where tight alleys are decorated with wall-paintings and murals.

The holiday can commence any day of the year and costs from £4295 pp (two sharing) which includes international and domestic flights, all transportation on a private basis, 12 nights' B&B, sightseeing/entrance fees and a guide.
