Leonard Bernstein is one of the most visible personalities in classical music during the 20th century. He has been named one of the most prodigiously talented and successful musicians in American History. He is internationally recognized as composer, conductor, educator and humanitarian.

Composer: Bernstein's famous works include West Side Story and Candide, in addition to various symphonies, choral pieces, ballet, and songs.

Conductor: Bernstein conducted the great orchestras of the world over four decades, and was music director of the New York Philharmonic for 11 years. He influenced and taught the many of the conductors who now lead major orchestras worldwide.

Humanitarian: Bernstein spoke out against the injustices in the world, both through his music and his own voice.
