Former Educator Amanda Howland Earns Support of Northwest Suburban Teacher's Union, Local 1211

LAKE ZURICH, Ill. - Feb. 16, 2018 - PRLog -- Amanda Howland, Democratic candidate for Illinois' 6th Congressional District representative, has been endorsed by Northwest Suburban Teacher's Union, Local 1211.

"As a former educator, I am gratified and humbled by the endorsement of Local 1211. When I become Congressman, I will work every day to keep teachers and students at the top of my agenda. We need to empower teachers and support students to grow our workforce and compete globally."

The time Amanda spent in elementary and middle school classrooms showed Amanda just how critical it is that high-quality public education for all is at the top of the national policy agenda. Amanda will fight to ensure that public funding is directed to public neighborhood schools so that all residents of the 6th District have the option to send their children to high quality public schools without excessive financial burden.

The mission of the Northwest Suburban Teacher's Union Local 1211, IFT-AFT, AFL-CIO is to improve the opportunities provided to children, education, and the teaching profession by maintaining a strong organization that is grounded in direct, efficient, and effective communication among its members and those served.

About Amanda:
Amanda Howland is a two-term elected trustee at the College of Lake County, she won countywide and came in first out of six candidates in 2009 and first out of five candidates in 2015. She is an attorney, former special education teacher and administrator, a 2011 graduate of Loretta Durbin's Illinois Women's Institute for Leadership, and cancer survivor. Amanda has lived in Lake Zurich with her husband for more than 20 years. Her law practice is devoted to mediation, civil rights, and employment law. She is a nationally ranked gymnastics judge, longtime member of the Sierra Club, and member of the Lake Zurich Area Chamber of Commerce. In August 2017, Blue Sun and Dan Cohen conducted a poll in Illinois' 6th Congressional District, targeting likely voters in the Democratic primary poll showed that 46% of decided voters support Amanda.
