By: Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce February 27 Women doing business in the Southern Ocean County are invited to the Union Market & Gallery to focus on Growth, Scaling and Collaboration with the Makers Fest Creative Team beginning at 10am, led by a guest panel featuring the Makers Fest Creative Team. The purpose of our Women in Business meetings are to strengthen the opportunities in our community, it was created by the Southern Ocean Chamber as an informal way to build relationships and create a support system for women in any chapter of their career. Union Market & Gallery, located at 120 W Main Street in Tuckerton, on site at the Tuckerton Seaport. Refreshments will be served. February 28 Southern Ocean Chamber partners with Stockton University for Non Profit Forum "Risky Business – How to Limit Liabilities Associated With Using Volunteers" begins at 10am at Stockton Manahawkin Campus and will include non profit networking opportunities, updates and refreshments. Stockton University Adjunct Professor, Karen M. Garcia, Esquire will present the discussion that focuses on volunteers risks and benefits. Topics to be covered will include liability for acts of your volunteer, protecting your organization and protecting your volunteers. The event will be located at 712 E Bay Avenue Manahawkin, NJ.As an ongoing effort to educate and empower local non profit members, the Southern Ocean County Chamber announces continuation of Non Profit Solution program. Offered for free, Non Profit forums has been a staple for the chamber for almost a decade, March 5 Food Allergy Class with the LBI Health Department at 2nd Floor Chamber Office Free Food Allergy Information Seminar is an Introduction and discussion of accommodating food allergic guests for Retail Food Operators, Chefs & Staff Check in for the event begins at 845am. The instructional session is to improve understanding of food allergies and anaphylaxis. It will highlight laws that protect individuals with food allergies, as well as identify ways to improve safety of food service to those patrons, This 2-3 hour session will teach food handling procedures to ensure safe delivery of meals to diners with food allergies, intolerances or sensitivities including gluten intolerance and celiac disease. In addition to his academic background, Professor Boyle has years of serving family businesses in the private sector. The workshop will be focused on the importance of communication and defining boundaries within a family owned or operated business. The popularity of the Founded in Family Forum held this past fall and the ongoing articles that showcase family legacies within the Long Beach Island Region that the chamber created, helped stimulate interest in this local business segment.
