World of Warcraft is Blizzard's fourteen-year-old MMORPG, based on the world and characters of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Aside from the usual choice of race and class in character creation, players may also choose to side with either of two factions, the Horde or the Alliance. The game also features an expansive world to explore and discover.

The Burning Crusade is the first expansion of the game's ever-growing universe (in terms of areas, gameplay, and community), and it remains one of the most memorable expansions of long-time players of WoW. It marked the first time anything new was added to the game, which was very astonishing at the time.

There is not a celebration in-game, but that does not mean you can't celebrate this anniversary. Take a break from farming WoW gold or items first, and reminisce the first time you stepped through the Dark Portal with guildmates and friends. Remember the excitement and wonder you had while first experiencing the new features of the game.

But All Good Thing Must Come to an End

Yet, time moves on. More expansions were added, bringing with it more and more features, characters, areas, and items. Then, that trend became something expected in a game, lessening the impact (but not erasing it completely). However, this expansion remains special to those who were there to experience its release. So, regardless of whether you were prepared or not, we hope you continue to enjoy World of Warcraft. Until next year!
