WILMINGTON, N.C. - Feb. 6, 2018 - PRLog -- St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church is pleased to announce the installation of Pastor and Head of Staff Reverend Derek James Macleod. The Coastal Carolina Presbytery will install Reverend Macleod as Senior Pastor of St. Andrews-Covenant at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, in the church sanctuary. The installation officially establishes the relationship between a newly called pastor, the congregation and Session.

The Reverend Dr. Richard Boyce, Academic Dean of Union Presbyterian Seminary in Charlotte, will serve as guest preacher. The Reverend Dr. Ann B. Jahnes, former associate pastor at St. Andrews-Covenant and now Pastor/Head of Staff at Southport Presbyterian Church, will give the charge. The public is welcome to attend.

Reverend Macleod comes to St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church from Myers Park Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, where he served as an associate pastor for outreach and mission. He was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and earned his undergraduate degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax. He obtained his Master of Divinity from Knox College, University of Toronto, where he received the Walter Allum preaching award. Upon his ordination, Reverend Macleod served as Solo Pastor of Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Beaconsfield, Quebec, then as Senior Pastor of Glenview Presbyterian Church in Toronto, Ontario, before being called to Myers Park Presbyterian Church. Reverend Macleod is married to Catherine Chappell and they have three daughters.

"To be welcomed by St. Andrews-Covenant, I have discovered, is a gift like no other," Reverend Macleod said.  "There is good work to do and great people here to share in that work. My family and I are excited to begin this new chapter."

St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church is part of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and The Presbytery of Coastal Carolina. It was formed on June 1, 1944 as a merger of two existing congregations: St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, formerly located at Fourth and Campbell Streets in Wilmington, and The Church of the Covenant, located at 15th and Market Streets in Wilmington. St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church remains at the 15th and Market Street location. Additional details at
