By: Prevail Press In the wake of Amazon's publishing revolution, which makes self-publishing possible, if not easy, has tightened the purse strings of traditional publishers. Books that might have found purchase before are passed over for authors with built-in platforms or on-trend ideas that promotion can explode. Today, not being able to find a traditional publisher is not an indication of poor writing ability. That leaves authors with few choices. Give up, self-publish or pay exorbitant prices to vanity press, or co-op press, as they call themselves. The prices and promises are high, but reality is almost always a financial loss and stacks of book cases in the garage. Micro-publishing, a self-coined term by publisher Robert Swanson of Prevail Press, lands happily in the author's camp. Leveraging Amazon's printing and distribution power, overhead is non-existent. While micro-fees are applied, they are a fraction of the cost of vanity press and cover the time spent on administration and design. Books that require no editing, minimal book design, and an acceptable cover cost less than $500, and gets them an author's page on www.prevailpress.com, an ISBN number, and listing on Amazon in print and e-formats. Editors and cover designers are Prevail partners, but not employees. Author's deal directly with them, with assistance from Swanson. Best of all, authors receive a promotion plan, entry into a community of authors who promote each other, and up to 70% royalties on each book sold. Prevail Press authors won't sell millions of books, not hundreds of thousands, maybe not even thousands, but great books sell, and if a traditional publisher wants an author's book, not a problem. Authors retain copyright and no contract. Prevail Press is the kind of publisher an author would create, and so it is. Robert Swanson is first a novelist, then a publisher. A former ghostwriter, author of 18 books, and his own novels, Swanson designed a company that serves its authors first. Submission guidelines can be found at http://www.prevailpress.com. Open to fiction, non-fiction, and creative projects of all kinds and demographics, Prevail Press is actively building an author's community based on honesty, trust and cooperation. End
