CONCORD, Calif. - Feb. 2, 2018 - PRLog -- Telemetry Solutions, based in Northern California, has been a leading electronics design and manufacturing company specializing in miniaturization and low-power-consumption GPS for wildlife research and management since 1996.

With the accelerometer feature, researchers will be able to monitor proper acceleration of animals. Recordings of acceleration will allow researchers to quantify the rate at which an animal is expending energy in the wild or captivity. This technology can be programmed to measure a wide range of activities by the subject species. Telemetry Solutions will work with you one-on-one to figure out what is best for your study and how to get the most from your data.

Accelerometers provide acceleration information in 3 axes. For wildlife research tracking products, we utilize this information in one of four different ways depending on the needs of the specific client.  1-They can simply record acceleration data and store it in the memory so that the client can do a movement analysis after recovering those data.  2-Another use is to inform the GPS device microprocessor about movements in between scheduled GPS positions.  If there wasn't much movement the microprocessor will skip the next scheduled GPS position in order to save battery. Then, over time the GPS device will learn when to turn on based upon ongoing information provided by the accelerometer. 3- A third use is to provide 180 overall body dynamic acceleration snapshots comprised of sets of data pulled from 8 minute periods.  4-The last use is to detect a specific behavior and then, in the data set, to output these occurrences of these behaviors with a date and time stamp.

"Since the early 1990s wildlife biologists have been using GPS devices to study wildlife.  While some have used accelerometers in these animal studies the technology is widely misunderstood and mysterious.  But now accelerometers are poised to provide far more insight into wildlife behavior." Telemetry Solutions founder and owner, Quintin Kermeen.
