Follow on Google News | Transport recognition for Hinckley manufacturerStressline, which employs 9 drivers within their transport division undertook the 12-month process to improve the efficiency of the transport, reduce fuel costs, and help improve safe driving practices. The company's nine vehicles include five rigids and four articulated trucks; they collectively cover around 500,000 miles every year transporting heavy concrete, steel and stone products throughout the UK. The accreditation process was a significant undertaking and the FORS (Fleet Operating Recognition Scheme) is widely recognised in the transport industry as the primary scheme within the UK. Kerry Parker, Transport Manager at Stressline explains the process. "To get the bronze standard we had to ensure that we have adequate policies and procedures in place for the whole of the transport function." The development of the office and driving staff is a key benefit of the FORS recognition to Stressline. Kerry continues: "All drivers and management completed e-Learning modules and will continue to do so on a six monthly basis. In addition, all data will be kept up to date and analysed to help us improve further. However, the benefits speak for themselves; we are delighted to be part of the scheme." The FORS recognition means that Stressline joins a list of over 4500 UK transport companies, the fuel-saving, logistics improvement and driver safety all contribute towards safer roads and more efficient deliveries to their merchant customer base.
