NAUGATUCK, Conn. - Jan. 26, 2018 - PRLog -- The Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce is excited to offer a quick and easy fundraiser, their 13th Annual Duck Race and Festival that will help local area nonprofit, school and civic organizations "plunge into profits!"

For the event, to be held rain or shine on Sunday, June 3, 2018, in historic downtown Naugatuck, the Chamber is seeking local organizations to sell duck race raffle tickets, with the reward of receiving 50 percent return on tickets sold. Over the past 12 years, the Chamber has used this event to donate $356,000 to participating community organizations.

"By selling tickets, each organization gains the opportunity to raise money specifically to support their individual group's mission and cause, at no cost to them," said Courtney Ligi, Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce Director.

Waterbury Cub Scout Pack 20 has sold the most tickets of any organization affiliated with Duck Day, a total of $5,756, and the Scouts received $2,882.50 in return. Alison Amato, Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce Programs Assistant, said, "Nonprofit organizations do not need to secure a minimum number of tickets to sell. There is also not a maximum number of ticket sales required for a donation to be made by the Chamber to the participating nonprofit organizations."

There is no fee for an organization to participate, and the Naugatuck Chamber will donate $2.50 back to the nonprofit for each $5 ticket sold by volunteers from each organization.

A special, early-bird release of tickets will be held Monday, March 19, between 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. at the Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce offices at 270 Church Street, and again on Monday, April 2, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Amato said several organizations have participated in the fundraiser for years. "The Naugatuck Community Choir has participated for the past 12 years; the Naugatuck YMCA has participated 11 years; the Naugatuck Community Band nine years; the Salem Community Child Care Center nine years; Main Street Waterbury nine years; Naugatuck Day Care eight years, and the United Way of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls for the past eight years," she said.

Created in 2006 by the Naugatuck Chamber, the Duck Race and Festival features the release of over 15,000 rubber ducks, dumped by a payloader from the Whittemore Bridge to race down the Naugatuck River. The ambition of each duck is to be among the first 25 to cross the finish line to win prizes for its owner, including the first prize of $5,000 for one lucky ticket purchaser.

During the annual Duck Day event, Maple and Water Streets in Naugatuck are transformed, with food and craft vendors, live music, games, circus talent and more. Businesses also exhibit their products and services to the more than 5,000 people anticipated to attend.
