The Students Sponsorship Project aims to assist ICT students of all higher level institutions in Malaysia with their final year project, giving them the opportunity to make use of latest web hosting technology with no cost of web hosting space and subdomain. Company History and Achievements Webserver MY (known as WebServer.com.my) WebServer MY is a member of Internet Alliance Malaysia - IAIX (PERSATUAN HUBUNGAN INTERNET SELANGOR DAN KUALA LUMPUR) and has established its business and infrastructure affiliating with Malaysia Internet Exchange (MYIX), an internet hub whose members include Telekom Malaysia (TM), Time Telecom, Maxis, Axiata, Digi etc. The Company also attained Silver Partner in Cloud Services for Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web/Cloud Services, Google Cloud and other Google Advertisement services. Student Sponsorship Project (SSP) Objective Established in 1989 and being the pioneer in Malaysia for providingweb hosting (https://www.webserver.com.my) and Cloud Hosting (https://www.webserver.com.my/ The main objectives of this sponsorship are: • Allow students to accelerate and showcase their ideas and Final Year Project (FYP) using the latest technology that normally available only in commercial world. • To extend students showcase beyond the university, by reaching out to industry leaders worldwide. • To help reduce IIUM infrastructure burden with an easy to deploy server hosting solution. There will be no hardware and software investment required for IIUM The SSP also aims to lessen the burden of educational institutions who offer ICT courses, as well as to lessen the stresses of IT students who are in the process of finishing their final year with their final year project. Webserver MY CEO Mr. Alfred Lim has expressed his enthusiasm with their latest partnership with the International Islamic University Malaysia. During his speech on the Memorandum of Agreement which held on January 18, 2018, at the Rectory Building of IIUM, Mr. Alfred said: "With this sponsorship, not only we want to achieve the mentioned, we hope to allow these young, energetic and creative students to use the server as an incubator to be a distinguish start-up owner in the near future. To provide them the opportunity to have a level playing field with budding new start-up from Silicon Valley to anywhere around the world!" Benefit to students All final year ICT Faculty students of the University will get to utilise free web hosting and free subdomain from the company, where they will store their websites or mobile apps until the end of their project. According to Mr. Lim, the final year project is the last lap for final year students before they graduate, and that their opportunity to show what they have learned should not be overlooked. While the University provides the environment, training, and nurturing of their students, the company hopes to contribute and do their part in shaping these students into future global citizens by providing the advance infrastructure to present their work. As part of sponsorship, company also organise a workshop by imparting hands-on experience to administrators and students on how to administer, manage and optimize a web hosting efficiently and effectively. Future of SSP Webserver MY and the International Islamic University Malaysia are more than happy to participate in this joint venture and sponsorship project, where the infrastructure for final year IT students to present the conclusion of their studies, is made possible with the company's IT and server services. SSP not only limited to Faculty of IT (KICT) students, in the near future sponsorship to be implemented for Faculties of Engineering (KOE), Architecture (KAED), Economics & Management Sciences (KEMS) and all covering Undergraduate & Post Graduate students.
