Northbrook's Prairie Grass Cafe makes Valentine's Day extra sweet

To win this gorgeous gift, dine-in guests will be given a form to enter their name and e-mail address. Entries will be eligible from February 1 to 14 and the drawing will take place that evening after service ends. Additionally, the lucky winner also gets an hour-long class with Dan at Hot Shop Glass.

The Valentine's Day menu features the regular dinner menu plus a handful of dreamy specials that are sure to make for a romantic meal.

Start your night with an appetizer of Ahi Sushi Grade Tuna Tartare, made with avocado and lime and served with wonton chips ($14), or the Roasted Parsnip Soup garnished with pomegranate seeds ($6). A balance of savory and sweet, this seasonal dish is perfect for the holiday. Main course specials include Day Boat Sea Scallops with celery root purée, roasted carrot & cauliflower in a decadent brown butter and caper sauce ($34) and a Prime Aged NY strip steak served with a mushroom sauce and a twice baked potato topped with bacon and scallion-gruyere cheese ($45).

Finish dinner on a sweet note with the Warm Poached Pear and Almond cake ($9.50). Cozy and slightly sweet, pair this treat with Golden 8 Pear Brandy ($12) for a luscious finale. Aged for 8 years, this unique liqueur has a powerful, warm Pear Williams aroma and generous notes of freshly harvested pears, vanilla and caramel.
