Entries will be received Fri, Feb 2, 2018 2-9pm and Sat, Feb 3 from 10am to 9pm at the St. Louis Photo Authority® , 858 Hodiamont Avenue, St. Louis, 63112. They may also be mailed to Photo Contest, 7019 Mitchell Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63117 The Categories are: Abstract Animals - domestic & wild Architecture Babies & Children Black & White Boudoir/Figure Study Composite Events Fashion Film - color & monochrome Food & Product Flowers/Plants/ Landscape Long Exposure Macro & Insects Portrait Sports & Action Still Life Street Photography Theatre/Dance/ Images must be submitted on disc (CD/DVD) or USB drive in jpeg format, minimum resolution of 3000 pixels on the long side. Each entry must be accompanied by $30 fee, for up to 3 images, one or more submission forms listing all of the entries by title, and the $25 yearly membership fee for the Saint Louis Photography Club, if not already paid. Additional entries may be submitted for an additional $10 each. There is no limit to the number of images you may enter. Your entry into the contest grants the St. Louis Photo Authority® permission to use your submitted images for promotional purposes. Rules: All images must have EXIF data intact and must have been taken in 2017. All photographs must have been taken by the submitter. HDR is acceptable as is any digital manipulation except composites of different images. Composites must be entered into the Composite category. Prints from images entered into the Film category must be supplied with their original negative, positive or transparency. The best 101 photos will be selected from the submissions. All 101 Finalists must submit a presentation- Judges: The decisions of the judges are final. Commemorative Book: An 11x14 inch coffee table-style book with all of the finalists' photographs will be made and must be ordered at the time the finalists are announced. Details: Remember, as stated above in the requirements section, you must be current with your photography club dues. You may submit the $25 yearly dues with your application if you are not currently a member or if you have not yet paid. Your images must be saved in .jpg form, and must be a minimum resolution of 3000 pixels on the long side. All images must have EXIF data intact and must be from 2017. Give each of your images a title and make that title its file name. Save all of your submitted files to one CD or DVD. Mark the disc with your name and e-mail address. Do not put labels or tape on discs! Fill out as many entry forms as you need (up to 8 images per form) for your images. There is no limit to the number of images you enter. You may submit a series of up to 4 images to be considered as a group. The $30 entry fee is not refundable and covers up to 3 images. If you enter a series of images, to be considered as a group, each image is $10, with a minimum group size of 3. Fees may be paid by check or cash. Make your checks payable to the St. Louis Photo Authority®. We must receive your CD/DVD or USB drive and application form by 9pm Saturday, February 3rd, 2018. You may mail it to: Photo Contest, 7019 Mitchell Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri, 63117 OR, You may bring your CD/DVD or USB drive in person to the St. Louis Photo Authority® studio at 858 Hodiamont Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri 63112, on Friday, February 2, 2018 between 2 & 9pm or Saturday, February 3 from 5pm to 9pm. If you drop your images and application in person, you can get a tour of our extensive studio and some refreshments. Your disc will not be returned to you. Exhibition at the St. Louis Photo Authority® The best 101 photos will be selected from the submissions. All 101 Finalists must submit a presentation- Judges will evaluate each image on each of the following criteria: Impact - strong first impression Originality - point of difference , creativity in camera Lighting – use of natural or artificial light Composition - point of interest, cropping, placement of elements Presentation - print quality, matting, framing, ready-to-hang The quality of the presentation will be judged on the prints submitted by finalists; i.e., matting, framing and readiness to hang.
