Nancy Major Assumes Leadership at Daystar Inc. as President, Chief Executive Officer
Longtime non-profit, business executive takes reins of leadership at women's shelter on Milwaukee's south side

Major oversees the operational and strategic efforts of Daystar, a non-profit organization that offers a safe haven for women survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Daystar, founded in 1986, empowers its once-victimized clients to triumph over trauma.
Daystar's transformational approach works to change lives for the long term. Its services provide safe housing, emotional healing and individualized counseling for up to two years. The program helps survivors develop skills to break the cycle of abuse, overcome barriers, and lead successful, productive lives free from violence.
Major has broad experience in executive leadership, operational restructuring, strategic planning, program development, and sales and marketing, among many other qualifications. She recently served as Executive Director of Stillwaters Cancer Support Center, Waukesha, and previously as President and CEO of Waukesha-based Safe Babies Healthy Families, where she greatly expanded the organization's service reach and public profile.

Major's professional background includes work in both corporate and non-profit sectors, including several in health care. She has managed companies of varying sizes, owned and sold businesses, and led large regional chapters affiliated with United Cerebral Palsy and Special Olympics. She holds B.A. and master's degrees from Columbia State University.
