FORT MYERS, Fla. - Jan. 9, 2018 - PRLog -- A significant gift from the world's most famous high-tech corridor is coming to the ECHO Global Farm in North Fort Myers, thanks to the Cape Coral Community Foundation Global Center for Generosity (CCCF). Representatives from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation (SVCF), working with CCCF, presented ECHO with a $25,000 check Monday, Jan. 8 during the inaugural CCCF Power Players Professional Advisor Awards.

"This money goes a long way toward our mission of enriching our community and the quality of life for people in Cape Coral and across Southwest Florida," CCCF Executive Director Michael Chatman said. "I couldn't begin to properly express my gratitude to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation and the people they serve for their generosity, but I can assure them this is money well-spent."

ECHO aims to reduce hunger and help small-scale farmers around the world. The nonprofit organization provides agricultural and technology training to workers in more than 180 countries.

The SVCF is the world's largest community foundation, with more than $8.2 billion in charitable assets under management. The involvement of groups like them is key, according to Chatman, since they represent a departure from traditional sources of funding for Southwest Florida-based charitable causes.

"It's important that we combat donor fatigue and constantly look for new avenues," he said.

The timing of the gift couldn't be better, as the CCCF honored seven distinguished professional advisors for their integrity, honesty and substantial impact on the region.

The awards event, held at the Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village, was the first of its kind in Southwest Florida. The event also educated guests on the alignment between the CCCF, SVCF and the Financial Advisors Charitable Trust as part of a larger vision of global partnership and giving.

"Part of the goal of our organization is to expand our outreach and work with partners around the globe who can help us address the most critical issues in our community," Chatman said. "This is a prime example of how we can do just that."
