PRLog -- In 2017, The Center for Executive Development (CED) at the Rady School of Management saw a significant increase in the number of professionals taking open enrollment certificate-
track classes. In fact, the number of people achieving a certificate from one of the programs increased over 350 percent over 2016. The surge in interest in CED certificate programs can be attributed to the need for professionals to obtain new skills to remain nimble and relevant in the ever-changing business environment.
Another factor in the popularity of CED's certificate programs is the convenience of the classes to busy managers and executives. While some executive education programs require participants spend five straight days (or more) in the classroom, the Rady CED approach includes a flexible timeline where courses are delivered over several months with half-day or full-day classroom sessions. Not only does this timeline better suit the needs of working professionals, an additional advantage is that participants get to practice newly learned skills on the job in-between sessions.
"With the New Year, many people make resolutions to improve their skills and accelerate their careers," said Clark Jordan, assistant dean of Executive Development. "Our certificate programs are a great way to enhance professional skills with the most current and relevant information in a short amount of time. A certificate can expand professional opportunities, diversify networks and is a nice addition to one's resume. And, given the several electives within each certificate, individuals can semi-customize their course selection to better meet their learning objectives within that area of study."
The most popular certificate program at CED in 2017 was the Mindful Executive Certificate, which teaches participants balance, compassion and resilience to become a well-rounded, mindful leader. Other popular certificate programs are Excel, Finance, Leadership and Communication, all of which can be completed in 40 hours or less.
Beginning spring 2018, CED will be offering a new certificate called the Corporate Triathlete Certification. This certificate will train the mind, the body and the business to compete, excel and win. It will be a highly engaging program that harnesses the power of human energy to decrease stress, enhance well-being and enable participants to perform at their full potential. Courses in the Corporate Triathlete Certificate will include: Balancing Act: Work, Life and Technology; Wellness: Mind, Body and Business Part I and Part II; Less Stress, More Success; Positive Culture: Collaboration, Innovation & Team Building; Goals, Guts and Grit Coaching: Part I and Part II; Mindful Productivity:
Mindful & Mental Edge Technology to Achieve High Levels of Efficiency; and Workplace Meditation- Training the Mind When There is No Finish Line.
The certificate programs are open to business professionals interested in obtaining new skills. For more information on CED open enrollment certificate programs, go to:
