Radarsign in the News: Ball State University Keeping Pedestrians Safer with RadarsignBSU's continued effort to increase pedestrian safety includes reducing driver speeds
By: Radarsign In April 2017, the school reduced some speed limits from 30 mph to 20 mph. Radar speed signs from Radarsign, LLC. are a key component of the Muncie, Indiana-based school's traffic calming plan. Sara Barker, a reporter with The Ball State Daily reported on how University Police, in conjunction with Ball State's public safety committee, agreed radar speed signs would be a proactive measure in keeping pedestrians safe on campus. According to University Police Chief Jim Duckham, the signs were installed near the outer limits of the campus so they can provide drivers with feedback about their speed before they enter areas with high pedestrian traffic. "There's so much pedestrian traffic, especially around McKinley and the Rec Center," Duckham said. "We really want people to slow down."
