ATLANTA - Jan. 3, 2018 - PRLog -- Science, Engineering and Mathematics Link Inc. (SEM Link) has launched its "STEM Kids" journal and notebooks product line to promote images of youth of color doing STEM. These journal and notebooks will feature images of youth of color as scientists and engineers. The first image in this line, which was designed by SEM Link volunteer Ms. Yennie Shyu, is kid biologists. "Creating this product line was important to me because most of the images in articles, paraphernalia and social media that are designed to encourage youth to pursue STEM careers and teach educators and parents how to prepare youth for STEM careers don't feature images of youth of color.  If we are going to ensure that the future STEM workforce is diverse; we have to ensure that images of youth of color are present among the images that we use to encourage and prepare youth to pursue STEM careers.  Adults and youth carrying these journals and notebooks will allow us to do our part in changing the image of what a STEM professional looks like" stated Ms. Tokiwa T. Smith SEM Link Founder and Executive Director.

The "STEM Kids" journals and notebooks can be purchased from SEM Link's Zazzle Store (https://www.zazzle.com/semlink). Proceeds from the sales of the journals and notebooks will provide the organization with unrestricted funds to support its operations and programs. SEM Link hopes to add a new image to the product line quarterly.
