Follow on Google News | Mentoring Immokalee Students: Guadalupe Center to host "Discover Mentoring" event Jan. 24Event to explore mentorships with students in Guadalupe Center's Tutor Corps Program
By: Guadalupe Center More than 20-30 promising new students enter the Tutor Corps Program each year, where they will have the opportunity to work as a tutor to kindergarten- "Mentors have the opportunity to make a huge impact in the lives of Immokalee students, serving as a lifelong supporter, confidant and friend as these students strive for greatness," said Dawn Montecalvo, president of Guadalupe Center. "Many students within this program are the first of their families to attend college, and they benefit greatly by being paired with an adult who has experienced college first-hand and can provide valuable insight as they prepare for the next step along their educational journeys. We encourage those interested in becoming a mentor to join us on Jan. 24 to learn more about how they can support the students of Immokalee through this special program." Admission to the Discover Mentoring event is $25 and includes a buffet-style meal and cocktails offered at happy hour pricing. Those interested in exploring mentorship opportunities at the Discover Mentoring event are asked to RSVP by Jan. 17 by calling 908-581-4754 or emailing lfox08@comcast.net.
