WASHINGTON - Dec. 26, 2017 - PRLog -- Conservation X Labs and We Scale Impact have announced a partnership to support early stage innovators using sustainable solutions to solve some of society's most difficult challenges. The first collaborative project will focus on using ocean related solutions to feed the world's growing population.

Food scarcity is a growing issue and the Lancet reported last year that it will cause more than 500,000 deaths by the year 2050. By revolutionizing aquaculture, especially in the developing world, ocean innovations can help eradicate poverty, end hunger and ensure access to safe, nutritious and sufficient food all year round, while conserving and sustainably using marine resources. Alden Zecha, Founding Partner at We Scale Impact, said "In my international work, I've seen how limited food supplies not only impact individuals, but can also limit growth for entire countries. Working together with Conservation X Labs, we will speed the development and scaling of environmentally sustainable innovations that work to address that."

The partnership brings together Conservation X Labs' background in advocacy, academia, and policy with We Scale Impact's business strategy, operations and finance capabilities. Alex Dehgan, CEO and co-founder of Conservation X Labs, said "We're very excited to be able to work with the talented team at We Scale Impact. Their years of experience founding and operating global impact businesses will provide our innovators with practical knowledge from their work on the ground in the emerging markets."

Dehgan and Zecha first met years ago when they were both working on global health issues. At the time Dehgan was working for USAID and Zecha was growing the health care company Sproxil which he co-founded. Earlier this year they reconnected and discussed how they could work together to address environmental concerns. That conversation led to their organizations' new partnership.

"Together we can help scale and grow new solutions that will make a difference in the world," Zecha said. "That's what we are both focused on, and we can be more effective working together."

About Conservation X Labs

Conservation X Labs focused on harnessing exponential technologies, open innovation, and entrepreneurship to dramatically improve the efficacy, cost, speed, scale and sustainability of conservation efforts to end human induced extinction. Through their Oceans X Labs joint initiative with the World Wildlife Fund-U.S. they source, develop, and scale disruptive innovations that could transform ocean conservation efforts and help them become financially and ecologically sustainable, and scale for global impact.  Oceans X Labs is currently accelerating the first cohort of innovative companies, most of which were sourced from the Blue Economy Challenge, which the Australian Government's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Conservation X Labs, and partners executed in 2016.
