Victorian Government Announcement Outrages Local Businesses & Residents

In this community, an overwhelming majority are against the LXRA Level Crossing removal solution – both the closure of Eel Race Road and the Carrum SkyRail.  It was extremely disappointing to hear on Tue 19^th Dec, that the Government have signed construction contracts for the LXRA works in Carrum and Seaford.

As major stakeholders, the residents and businesses of our community have not been consulted, regarding the level-crossing removal solutions.

Eel Race Road (ERR) and the crossing currently has adequate capacity to handle existing traffic and future growth.  It is a necessary access point to/from this community.  To funnel this traffic viaStation St & McLeod Road Carrum, which is already heavily congested, is ridiculous.  Extra traffic will also be diverted down to Seaford via Railway Pde.  Closing the ERR crossing will result in loss of amenity now and severely limit options for future proofing this area.

SkyRail is totally inappropriate for the bay-side suburbs of Carrum and Seaford.  We all know that 'Rail-Under-Road' is absolutely possible, in our coastal sand belt environment and also the best long-term solution - financially, environmentally and practically.
