BOULDER, Colo. - Dec. 20, 2017 - PRLog -- Pro Resume Builder Advice How To Make A Resume

It's time to make a resume and you're just staring at the blank page. It's not as easy as you thought.  You're getting frustrated.  You're getting worried.  Well don't be! Take a deep breath, relax. Because there are people out there who can help!

There are literally countless resources online that provide advice on how to make a resume, but with all that information out there it can get confusing.  So where do you start?  Better yet, the question you should really be asking yourself at this point is, "Should I write my own resume, or should I have a professional do it?"

If you do choose to write your own resume, I would highly recommend you do your homework on acceptable format styles and know as much as you can about what hiring managers are looking for.  Unfortunately, a lot of people try to write their own resume but they lack the persuasive writing skills and knowledge of industry formatting, and the result is that their resume isn't very effective.  In fact it may actually be doing them more harm than good. So make sure you do some research and you're confident in your abilities as a writer.

Also, perhaps the absolute best advice I can give you if you are intent on writing your own resume is you should have at least one other person read it over before you start sending it out to potential employers.  A second set of eyes can be very important.  After all, we are all guilty of trusting spellcheck a little too much and sometimes spellcheck isn't perfect. I can't tell you how many times I have reviewed a resume and had to replace "manger" with "manager" or "pubic" with "public".   Those sorts of mistakes, although hilarious if you think about a career in "pubic relations", are absolute deal-breakers on your resume and they're something spellcheck won't catch.

On the other side of the coin, if you aren't particularly confident in your own abilities as a writer and/or marketer then you should probably seek the help of a pro resume builder. After all, I trust my mechanics to work on my car because that's what they do all day, every day.  So why should it be any different with your resume?  And I would also advise you only work with one pro resume builder, because if you ask 100 different people what makes the perfect resume you will get 100 very different answers. So to save yourself the hassle and confusion you should find someone you think you can work with, someone with good credentials and positive customer reviews, and then trust that person to compile your new resume with your best interests at heart.
Be Careful When Choosing a Resume Writing Service
You do need to be careful though.  As I mentioned there are an abundance of options out there, but some are better than others. First and foremost, I sincerely recommend you don't mess with automated resume generators or anyone who claims they can make your resume in under a half an hour.  Those services are simply awful. They will just plug-and-chug your info into a template format and be done with you.

Then there are the big, expensive resume writing websites, some who charge upwards of $1000 for their services, but I would advise staying away from those as well.  As a freelance writer, I have worked for some of the largest companies online and I will let you in on a little secret: They are NOT worth the money you will pay! For the most part they just hire freelancers like me to do all the work for the client and pay us only a small portion of the total fee they charge.  Then most of their revenues go towards marketing so they can sucker more innocent people into purchasing their sub-par services.  Some of those sites are basically just a big scam.

So what are you left with?  You're left with the best option: the little guy.  You're left with the small businessman, the entrepreneur.  You're left with the niche professionals who have spent their careers in the hiring industry and who work on a freelance basis to help job seekers fulfil their dreams.  These people will actually pay attention to your needs as an individual, instead of just collecting your info and throwing it into a template format. These are the people you want to find.

To sum up, if you wondering how to make a resume or where to start, you should first decide if you are qualified to write you own resume.  If you do decide that you could use some help, I sincerely recommend you partner up with a freelance pro resume builder who can assist you along the way and give you the confidence you need to land your dream job.  Best of luck out there!
