The time has come to write your new resume, and all you can do is stare at the blank page.

You want to bang your head against the wall, or scream, or rip your hair out in frustration.  But don't.  Take a deep breath, relax.  Because there are people out there who can help!

If you need help writing your healthcare resume, don't worry you're not alone.  A lot of people are completely lost when it comes to writing their own resume, and it's a good idea to seek out professional advice on the matter. After all, I trust my mechanics to work on my car because that's what they do all day, every day.  So why should it be any different with your resume?

Your resume is one of the most important documents you will ever have to draft.  That one little piece of paper is your professional introduction; a visual representation of your best attributes and a symbolic handshake with a potential employer.  It's your only chance to make a memorable first impression, so what does your resume say about you at first glance?

The fact is that a hiring manager will spend an average of 15 seconds looking over your resume and it's crucial you grab their attention from the get-go.  And that doesn't mean you should use big, flashy words or colorful borders or pictures or anything like that.  It means you need to show them value, and that value has to be immediately identifiable.
Create an Effective Resume
Every hiring manager has a particular set of expectations and needs in mind when they view a resume for the first time.  They have questions…they're looking for answers. So an effective resume will answer those questions with a minimal amount of effort and, as with any effective marketing tool, it will leave the reader wanting to know more.  That's when they pick up the phone to call you for an interview!

Now, the healthcare industry is one that is particularly competitive these days.  There are over 14 million people currently employed in the field with another anticipated 2.3 million jobs being generated through 2024. New medical schools and programs are popping up everywhere, pumping out a new generation of clinical administrators and staff, and the bar is being raised as a result. So if you're one of the many job-seekers in this industry, not only do you need an impressive education and background, but you also need an impressive resume in order to stand out from the competition.

Do you think you can do that on your own? Are you willing to bet your career on it?

If you're like most people and you aren't extremely confident if your skills as a writer and/or marketer, I would sincerely recommend you hook up with a professional resume writer to help craft the perfect resume for you.  A seasoned veteran can be an invaluable asset, and a great person to have on your side. Don't be too shy, or too proud.  And don't wait.  Because the sooner you act, the sooner you will feel a giant weight being lifted off your shoulders.

You do need to be careful though.  There are an abundance of options online for help with pro healthcare resumes, but some are better than others. First off, stay away from automated resume generators or any website that claims they can create your resume in under an hour.  They are simply awful and will do you more harm than good.

Then there are the large, expensive websites, but I would advise staying away from those as well.  As a freelance writer, I have worked for some of the biggest online resume writing companies and I can tell you that they are NOT worth the money you will pay.  For the most part they just hire freelancers like me to do all the work for the client then pay us only a small portion of the total fee.  Some of those sites are basically just a big scam.

So to sum up, if you find yourself saying, "I need help with my healthcare resume!" then you should definitely seek out a professional resume writer to guide you (preferably a freelance resume writer).  And if you're pursuing a career in the medical field, you should also do your best to solicit a writer who focuses exclusively on pro healthcare resumes. That's just about the best advice anyone will give you…best of luck out there!
