PORTLAND, Maine - Dec. 20, 2017 - PRLog -- Greener Pastures Holisticare announces the January, 2018 grand-opening of Greener Pastures Recovery House, a 12-bed residential facility for women seeking alternative treatment for opiate addiction. Featuring an innovative self-motivational recovery program, GPH offers an all-natural alternative to medicated assisted treatments (MAT) such as methadone and suboxone.

The opiate epidemic in our country is staggering, with drug overdoses recently becoming the leading cause of death among Americans under 50. In 2016, there were 286 opiod-related deaths in Maine. Greener Pastures Holisticare recognizes the dire need for new addiction treatment centers in Maine, and are dedicated to being New England's first completely Alt-MAT holistic rehabilitation center.

Our private, self-pay facility is fully staffed with a medical director, occupational therapists, a recreational therapist, a licensed drug and alcohol counselor, a case manager, personal care attendants, a yoga/meditation instructor, herbalists, a nutritionist, and a gourmet master chef who will prepare a menu of locally-sourced, organic "whole" foods. GPH encourages women to embrace the "greener" way of life in mind, body, and spirit. Thus, our mission is to replace self-harm with self-love and trade addictive behaviors/patterns with habitual self-care and mindfulness.

In place of a typical 12-step program, our 28-day wellness program utilizes cannabis and kratom therapy, herbal supplements, experiental therapy (yoga, art, botany, etc.), group therapy and one-on-one drug counseling. This client-centered program, developed by an occupational therapist, offers cognitive-behavioral treatment through motivational interventions with an emphasis on mindfulness principles. Letting the client chart their own course of recovery through collaboration, rather than confrontation, our clients discover their own motivation and actively participate in their path to wellness.

"Recovery through self-discovery is the foundation for meaningful growth." - Ronald Figaratto, OTR/L, Program Director

Women who are interested in our unique recovery program and are ready to explore the "greener pastures" that lay ahead, are encouraged to complete our online enrollment application at

Limited scholarships and our generous sliding scale fee Wellshare Program are available to qualifying women.
