By: Chester Area Professional Club The group reached out to Mount Olive social services to request the holiday lists of children the department cares for, said Anita Luthy, of AMR Business Services, chairperson of the event. Sixteen members received lists from local children and spend a couple of weeks shopping. "We get together over breakfast each week and talk about ways to run our business better, kick around other issues and generally enjoy our time together," she said. "We're a pretty lucky group of people and we thought it was appropriate to share our good fortune. In fact, supporting your community and helping out is a good business practice these days." This is the second year the group has helped area children at the holiday season. This year, members responded to kids' lists that included everything from warm blankets and clothing to a toy train set and a bicycle. The items were turned over to the Mount Olive Department of Social Services after the group's meeting Wednesday. CAPC is an informal group of about 20 members, mostly owners of local businesses or managers of the local offices of larger businesses. Established about 15 years ago, some of the original members are still active. The group meets Wednesdays at 7 a.m. at the Chester Diner in Chester. Membership is limited to one representative of each industry. More information is available at www.capcnj.net. -30- End
