American singer's adventure complete after battle on The voice of Holland
Jaclyn Bradley Palmer was the sole American expatriate featured this season
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, USA, Palmer shared the stage with Kira Dekker, singing a mash up of Clean Bandit featuring Anne Marie's "Rockabye" and Katy Perry's "Chained to the Rhythm." Both contestants were team mates working with coach Sanne - in Holland also known as Miss Montreal. While both vocalists sang their hearts out, Jaclyn's journey with "The voice of Holland" came to an end.
Palmer explains that performing the battle was an incredible experience. "I only wanted to give my best performance, move the viewers, and bring joy through the music I sang," said Jaclyn, "While the process of competing was stressful, after making my commitment to excellence regardless of the outcome, I had one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. I lost the battle to my opponent, but in my own way, I won because I gave a performance that was from my heart and I'm very proud of that." When learning of Palmer's work with music therapy, Dutch superstar, Ali B, promised to accompany Jaclyn to a hospital so that they could bring music to patients together. Watch that exciting clip here: https://www.youtube.com/
A board certified music therapist, Jaclyn explains that promoting music therapy and bringing hope and healing to cancer patients through song and songwriting is the best gig of all. "All of the lights and glamour amount to a glorious, fun ride," she says, "but sharing music at a patients beside is where true purpose and joy live for me."
Palmer, the sole US expat on this season, is thrilled to have been a contestant on the Dutch program, claiming that no matter where she resides, music has always been her first language. Singing since childhood, she attended Indiana University's School of Music, obtaining a degree in operatic vocal performance. Afterward, Jaclyn lived in both New York City and Los Angeles as a singer-songwriter where she and her compositions were featured on MTV, VH1, HGTV, Bravo and TLC. Palmer has recorded 3 full length studio albums—two in the States and one in Holland. For Palmer, the merging of art and film is also very important. Her music video "A Loaded Gun," was official selection at the Orlando Film Festival. Her latest music video, an artful, single shot work, can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/
When not performing, Palmer can indeed be found at a hospital, using music to help others at a crucial time. A master degreed music therapist, she received her training from Cleveland State and Colorado State University. Her specialty is supporting cancer patents during surgery and in 2012 she led the largest study in history to bring live music into the operating arena. In 2015, she moved to Utrecht, Netherlands with her husband, Oliver, an engineer and daughter, Roma, age 3, who also appear on the show. In 2016, she was honored by her hometown who named her one of Cleveland's most interesting people. "It was pure joy to be a part of The voice of Holland this season" says Palmer, "I was able to make wonderful friends, share my voice with the world and represent America as an artist abroad – it is an experience I will carry with me always."
Palmer's new EP "Be it Wild or Poetic" is now available for preorder on iTunes and is scheduled for a release on January 16, 2018.
