Teen Athlete Rallies for "Christian's Christmas Crusade" Toy Drive for Cancer Patients

CYPRESS, Texas - Dec. 18, 2017 - PRLog -- Houston area teen activist and athlete, Christian DesChamps, 13, surpassed his goals last year with his inaugural Holiday Toy Drive, "Christian's Christmas Crusade", which saw 1200 donations raised benefitting the youth cancer patients spending their holidays at the Texas Children's Hospital Cancer Center.  This year, he is striving to raise awareness and make an even bigger impact by donating 2000 toys to the hospital for the Christmas holiday to try to bring some joy to the children who will be spending their holidays fighting cancer.

DesChamps competes nationally year-round as a triathlete and has achieved an amazing record of championships and wins, including becoming the National Champion at the USA Triathlon National Championships earlier this year in Ohio.  He partners with Pinky Swear foundation and dedicates each race to a different youth cancer patient, with thousands of dollars raised towards their healthcare costs.

DesChamps got some media attention this summer preparing for the Championships when he announced he was dedicating the race to local viral star Piper Lively, who garnered thousands of likes and shares with the video of her cheerful dancing between cancer treatments.  Houston's Grace White at KHOU Channel 11 featured a segment on DesChamps and his race and fundraising for Piper.

Friends and family are bringing toy donations to Christian directly, but for the general public, donations are accepted via his Toy Drive Wish List online at Amazon or through his partnership with Learning Express Toys in Cypress and Town and Country, who are giving a 20% discount on all items purchased for the toy drive.  The toy drive will benefit children from babies to teenagers, so DesChamps encourages potential donors to choose toys and gifts on or off his suggested list that fit their budget or preference.

Donations are accepted thru Wednesday, December 20th, and DesChamps will be delivering them to the Cancer Center on Friday, December 22nd.  DesChamps hopes you will spread the word about #ChristiansChristmasCrusade to help him cross the finish line this holiday season with 2000 donations, and welcomes press interviews about the toy drive.
