By: Hughes Center for Functional Medicine Marcial-Vega completed his internship and residency training in Radiation Oncology from Johns Hopkins Hospital and School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, and is board certified by the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine and the American Board of Radiation Oncology. He received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Puerto Rico and his bachelor's degree in pre-medicine from Boston College University in Massachusetts. Marcial-Vega joined Hughes Center with an extensive research and teaching background, having served as an instructor of radiation oncology at the Washington University School of Medicine while in private practice at the Baptist Hospital in Miami and later served as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Miami School of Medicine and a clinical assistant professor at Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine. Dedicated to the research and implementation of the use of alternative and complementary medicines in the management of treating cancer and healing other diseases, Marcial-Vega continues to support the education of holistic healing through community outreach efforts. Marcial-Vega has integrative medicine and oncology research experience, and was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy of Comprehensive and Integrative Medicine in 2015 for his work in integrative medicine. He previously served as the president of Medical Disciplines Council of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Puerto Rico and was member of the Environmental and Public Health Committee of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Puerto Rico.
