ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Dec. 18, 2017 - PRLog -- Real Property Management (RPM) Last Frontier started "The Landlord's Almanac" in 2015 as a place for landlords to have open conversations about property management. Today, The Landlord's Almanac hosts classes for landlords each month, addressing hot-button issues like landlord-tenant law, tenant relations and retention, and more.

The property management industry is becoming more and more regulated with each passing year, making it increasingly difficult for landlords to keep up. "A lot of landlords are breaking the law and they don't even know it," says Kassandra Taggart, President of Real Property Management, "It's no longer as easy as shaking hands and cashing a rent check." That's where The Landlord's Almanac comes in--to prevent mistakes through education and training, something do-it-yourself landlords are always looking for.

They have received an incredible response so far! The Landlord's Almanac has grown to over 600 members in just two years. Their classes are well-attended, ranging from 50-80 attendees each month. The numbers they achieve are a direct result of the relevance of their classes to landlords. This January, the class topic is eviction, perhaps one of the greatest pain-points in property management. "Evictions typically cost $5-$10k in damages," says Kassandra, "I personally saw a DIY landlord try six times to win an eviction in court. Our goal is to educate landlords on the eviction process so that they don't have to go to court, lose everything, and start over."

Preventing mistakes among landlords creates a legacy of trust between landlords and tenants. Property management is often generational--the parent passing the property down to the child, along with their wisdom. If a landlord mistreats their tenants, it is likely that their children will do the same. On the contrary, a landlord who is knowledgeable in property management can have a positive impact on generations to come. "We are building a legacy," says Kassandra, "So that there is no longer a war between landlords and tenants."
